Intervención realizada para el festival circular.

“Disculpen las molestias, estamos trabajando por su ciudad”, habitual eslogan con el que los ayuntamientos intentan justificar las incomodidades que provocan las obras urbanas. Ese lenguaje institucional, que promete un futuro mejor a cambio de una incomodidad pasajera, es el punto de partida de este proyecto que busca señalar la dejadez crónica que sufren barrios como San Cristóbal de los Ángeles.

El proyecto se desarrolla a través de tres intervenciones:

Segunda intervención continúa con la idea de la dejadez institucional que sufre el barrio. La acción consistió en embalar mobiliario urbano: bancos, columpios o farolas fueron envueltos en plástico de burbujas y esquineras, como si se tratara de objetos recién estrenados, cuando en realidad están desgastados, rotos y obsoletos.

Un gesto irónico que denuncia el cuidado superficial y la precariedad encubierta bajo una apariencia de protección.

Intervention carried out for the Circular Festival.

“Sorry for the inconvenience, we are working for your city,” a common slogan used by city councils to justify the disruptions caused by urban construction. This institutional language, which promises a better future in exchange for temporary inconvenience, is the starting point for this project that seeks to highlight the chronic neglect suffered by neighborhoods like San Cristóbal de los Ángeles.

The project unfolds through three interventions:

The second intervention continues the theme of institutional neglect suffered by the neighborhood. The action consisted of wrapping street furniture: benches, swings, and lampposts were wrapped in bubble wrap and corner protectors, as if they were brand-new items, when in reality they are worn, broken, and obsolete. An ironic gesture that denounces the superficial care and the precariousness hidden beneath a veneer of protection.
